The MRSC published a guest blog article by OMW attorneys Oskar Rey and Drew Pollom about recent changes to the Standards for Indigent Defense Services (Standards) established by the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA). RCW 10.101.030 requires cities to adopt standards for delivery of public defense services and provides that the WSBA Standards shall serve as guidelines to cities. The changes to the Standards are substantial and will be phased in over a two-year period beginning July 2, 2025.
