Nick takes a creative approach to understand the particular facts, circumstances, and legal issues involved in each case to develop a legal strategy that will meet his clients’ goals and needs.
Nick has an expansive background in complex litigation through trial and appeal. The issues vary, including commercial disputes, product liability, wrongful death, employment, insurance disputes, bad-faith litigation, and consumer protection. Regardless of the substantive area, Nick takes a creative approach to understand the particular facts, circumstances, and legal issues involved in each case to develop a legal strategy that will meet his clients’ goals and needs.
Nick has a passion for brief writing and crafting compelling legal arguments. He understands that excellent brief writing is the one factor that affects the trajectory and success of most cases. On appeal, he has obtained discretionary review for his clients in the Washington Court of Appeals and the Washington Supreme Court. At the trial level, he has obtained dismissals for his clients on the merits in many cases. He has also acted as preservation-of-error counsel during high-stakes trials with an eye toward preserving error for appeal.
Nick graduated summa cum laude from Seattle University School of Law, where he served as the Executive Editor At Large for Seattle University Law Review. He received the CALI Excellence for the Future award for Legal Writing I, Legal Writing II, Pretrial Advocacy, Trial Advocacy, Evidence, Civil Procedure, Torts, Contracts, Property, Basic Real Estate, Administrative Law, Professional Responsibility, Film and the Law, and Legal Research Skills. During law school, he externed for the Honorable Thomas S. Zilly of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington and interned for the Federal Trade Commission. After law school, he clerked for Chief Justice Barbara Madsen at the Washington State Supreme Court, where he drafted judicial opinions and gained valuable insight into the appellate and judicial decision-making process.
