W. Scott Snyder, a Member in the firm’s municipal department, focuses his practice on issues relating to employment and land use with an emphasis on disability-related issues under the Washington Law Against Discrimination. He serves as the City Attorney of Edmonds, Washington. He regularly advises the firm’s municipal clients regarding telecommunications and has served as a consultant to the City of Bainbridge Island and the Kitsap Regional Coordinating Council regarding locally owned broadband utilities. He has served as special counsel to King and Snohomish Counties, the Cities of Bremerton, Redmond, Poulsbo, and numerous other public and private employers such as the Pirelli Corporation and PublicSafetyTesting.Com. Additionally, he has served as a hearing officer for the Civil Service Commissions of Bothell and Clyde Hill. Mr. Snyder is a member of the Bar of the U. S. Supreme Court and argued the Edmonds v. Oxford House case to the court in 1995. He advises public and private entities on licensing and zoning matters related to group housing and litigation under the Federal Fair Housing Act, the ADA and the Washington Law Against Discrimination. Mr. Snyder speaks frequently for the Local Public Governmental Institute and conducts individual supervisory training for a number of public and private employers. These include presentations to the Washington State Association of Fire Chiefs and the Washington State Civil Service Conference and the American Psychological Association’s 1996 annual conference. He participated in the Family Violence and the Workplace program presented by the Family Health Institute of the Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility. Born in Hannibal, Missouri, Mr. Snyder attended Dartmouth College on a National Merit-General Motors Scholarship, receiving his A.B. in English and History in 1972. He received his J.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1975. |
